Welcome to the Fire Prevention Division! The mission of the Fire Prevention Division of the Hillsboro Fire Protection District is to protect lives through proactive fire prevention measures such as code enforcement for new construction, inspections on existing commercial businesses, and fire prevention education. A permit is required from the Hillsboro Fire Protection District for the following projects and must be obtained prior to work commencing:
1. Commercial Buildings New Construction 2. Commercial Buildings Remodel 3. Commercial Building Change of Occupancy 4. Commercial Building Electrical Upgrades 5. Commercial Building Sprinkler Systems New Installations and Upgrades or Changes 6. Commercial Building Fire Alarm System New Installations and Upgrades or Changes 7. Commercial Building Hood Fire Suppression System Installation 8. Commercial Development Plat Review 9. Residential Development Plat Review 10 Residential Multi - Family Dwelling New Construction and Remodel 11. Fire Works Stand 12. Air Curtain Destructor 13. Operational Permit 14. In Home Daycare
The Hillsboro Fire Protection District does not handle any residential construction, with the exception of a subdivision plat review. The Hillsboro Fire Protection District currently has the 2015 International Code Council Family of Codes adopted as its Fire Prevention Code.
